Sailor Moon Crystal episode 3 was great. Rei's transformation is easily my favourite so far, as is her theme/background music. 
Other niceties include how they're line-arting Beryl in red (very atmospheric), more of Usagi's weird little henshins, and Luna kitty-haxing on a laptop.

While I looove the style and art direction colour wise I cannot suppress my neckbeard annoyance at how awful some of the animation is. the eyes in particular bug the shit out of me.

I saw the tumbly post with the interview screencaps, but didn't trust my 3am janky Japanese skills to make head nor tail of it, and decided to wait for slightly more info.
THIS translation linked on ANN says that it's definitely something they're considering (and that I hope isn't true), but nothing's written in stone yet.
It'd make me really sad if they did, but at the same time some comment on imgur made an interesting point; apparently Disney was pretty much a headless-chicken and in a mild creative slump for a long time after the death/retirement of the Disney family members, and only got their shit together with Who Framed Roger Rabbit and subsequently the beginning of the Disney Renaissance.
I'm really hoping that, if Ghibli DO take a break from film making, they'll be able to come back as a strong studio once again in the future.

Also on the bright side, all the people going AHHHHHH NOOOOOOOOOO on the internet night mean that there'll at least be guaranteed interest in anything they do produce in the future from people wanting to support Ghibli.
And the outcry might affect the Ghibli folks' thoughts on the best way to restructure and give them more hope about future projects.

If the anime continues to follow the one-chapter -> one-episode run that it's doing right now, we should get Jupiter in the first week of September, and Venus in the 3rd week of October.
